Vacation Bible School Fun

This week Joy Kids Learning Center is joining Joy Reigns Lutheran Church in their Vacation Bible School. We are having so much fun! The theme for the week at Vacation Bible School is "trust God." We are learning to trust God all the time, and we are having fun with movies, music, drama, art, games and even snack. By the time VBS is over at noon we all are more than ready for our lunch and nap!
The parachute game was lots of fun.

Check out the pictures from our fun "sensory" activity this morning. It was too hot to go outside, but we had lots of fun in the classroom!

Summer is here at Joy Kids Learning Center. This week we will continue learning about ourselves, including our age and favorite color! We will also begin learning about plants and how they grow. We will plant several herbs in a big pot. What is your favorite herb and simple recipe? 
We will experiment and plant 4 herb plants; basil, sage, cilantro and peppermint, and we will plant 3 from seeds; rosemary, parsley & chives. We hope our seeds grow to be big herb plants like the others! We have a wonderful sunny yard. We look forward to smelling and tasting our herbs, and enjoying some cooking activities also. We will graph which herbs are our favorites and compare with your comments on your favorites. Perhaps we will have enough to send some samples home with the children.

First Week at Joy Kids

We have had an awesome first week at Joy Kids Learning Center. The children have been painting, drawing, playing in rocks and water in the sensory table and dancing! We all love the "Animal Actions" song and "Freeze Dance"
We took a walk outside on Monday and observed a honey bee busy eating his snack on some of the clover flowers in our yard. We also saw a pretty butterfly on the butterfly bush.  When the children were asked what the honey bee was eating for snack the response was " goldfish!"

We have been getting to know each other and our classroom. Today we talked about our names, and we decorated our name tags. Thursday we are going to make picture collages of our families to hang up with our names. In the classroom our favorite areas to play in are the sensory table, the dry erase board, painting at the easel, and dressing up in fun costumes.
